Repatriation projects initiated on anniversary of 250yrs since Cook

The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) is leading the Return of Cultural Heritage project which is seeking to return Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage material from overseas collecting institutions back to its original custodians and owners. Douglass argued that freedom would be empty if former slaves were not guaranteed the rights and protections of American citizens.  The 13th Amendment (ratified in 1865) abolished slavery, the 14th Amendment (ratified in 1868) granted national birthright citizenship, and the 15th Amendment (ratified in 1870) stated nobody could be denied voting rights on the basis of race, skin color, or previous servitude.
